“Creativity is about harnessing the energy of the universe and channeling it through our unique lens." - Rick Rubin

about me.

I’m Thanujan Balan, a freelance photographer and videographer who goes where the wind takes me. Anything that interests me, I dive into, which is why I have a versatile portfolio that spans people, pets, nature, and more, and I continue to add to it. Born in Montreal and raised in Malvern, Toronto, my journey with photography began in elementary school when my father gifted me a Sony Camcorder. I used it to record funny skits with my friends, igniting my love for creating media content. Once I picked up my first official camera, everything changed.

My goal is to inspire people to live in the moment by revealing the beauty in ordinary places. I focus on capturing subjects at the perfect moment, whether it's the candid joy of a pet at ground level, the natural elegance of a landscape, or the dynamic energy of urban life. My stature is a perfect fit for pet photography, and I've had the privilege of working with various dog training companies.

Based in Scarborough, I travel for projects around the GTA, shooting photos and videos for small businesses. I specialize in custom graphic photos, manipulating and enhancing digital images to achieve the desired effects for my clients. Beyond photography and videography, creating art is at the heart of my work, blending technical skills with creative vision to produce compelling content.

One of my intentions is for people to use art as a medium for mental health and well-being, utilizing nature and photography to bring us back to the moment and embrace the present through creation. In a world full of distractions, finding balance is essential. As a South Asian, I understand that mental health is often swept under the rug, and I've used art as a form of grounding myself.

Through every shot and every frame, I aim to connect with those who view my work, showcasing authenticity and passion, no matter the conditions.
